FROM THE ARTIST: "I realized the symbolism of a hug. I sketched a basic figure that represented the embrace between two people. I wanted something that I could see each day that would remind me of the feeling of an embrace, the warmth, security and connection I felt with my friends and my family. The HUG reminded me of my friendships and connections. I felt that if I could give a gift to a friend each day, that gift would be a hug. So I created the HUG to remind me of the gift of friendship and the feeling of receiving a hug; the connection between people."
