| FROM THE ARTIST: As a second grade teacher, I have the gift of having my summers off. In order to give back to the world, I donate my time by volunteering for Habitat for Humanity. My first international trip was for a month in a small town in Uganda. I was able to take this picture while mortaring walls inside the house. The children looking through a six foot high scaffolding hole were the future residents of the home I was helping to build. They weren’t allowed in the home because of safety issues, but were so curious to see what was happening inside of their new home. The great mystery to me was how they were able to reach such a high viewing spot. This picture makes me glow because you can see the joy in their hearts through their eyes. |
