We are all like caterpillars,
Who will turn into
BUTTERFLIES.
All waiting to soar through the
sky and make the earth spin.

FROM THE ARTIST: The children and teachers of the Venice Nokomis UM Preschool participate, along with all Head Start programs, the Sarasota School District, the YMCA and an additional ten private preschool agencies, in an initiative entitled “Positive Behavior Support” or PBS. The PBS initiative is organized in conjunction with the Center for Social emotional Foundations for Early Leaning and is funded through a federal SAMHSA mental health grant. It is administered through the Sarasota Partnership for Children’s Mental Health and the Early Learning Coalition of Sarasota.

For the past few years, the Embracing Our Differences® exhibit has been used as a catalyst for a unit of study on differences in our world. All of the children who participated are four and five years of age. The concept of differences is one that is just emerging in children of this developmental stage. The goal for this unit of study was to support children as they begin to make sense of the world around them and to leave them with an understanding that differences are important and should be celebrated.
