Artist Statement

I am an artist and an art teacher, so watching children grow up together is part of my daily life. I believe harmonious classrooms enhance learning. I took this image during one of our field days. Students joined hands and passed a hula-hoop in a circle. It was amazing watching the joy of cooperation shared by the students. The image captures the reality of our similarities in shadows and embraces our diversity in the joining of hands.
