The Renegade Mannequin

Mix it up! Wear stripes with plaids, polka dot socks with sneakers. Sit with someone you don't know. Say hello to people from far away. Eat food that's different. Sing songs from other lands. Celebrate these differences - small or large. Mix it up!

Artist Statement

Self-expression is very important, even among mannequins. Although they are typically void of character, some fashionconscious figure mannequins have recently begun wearing garish outfits, a bold statement of their individualism. Rather than falling in line with the rest of the wooden army, this particular mannequin proudly sports a pair of heart-shaped sunglasses, a jester’s hat and a dashing Hawaiian shirt. The lone rebel, though blissfully unaware of how tacky his outfit looks, has decided he will no longer be happy blending in with the crowd. Surely he realizes the importance of self-expression, and wholeheartedly believes that our differences make each of us great. While it must have taken courage to break free from the crowd, this mannequin is proud of his uniqueness. And take it from me, the other mannequins are quite impressed.
