Artist Statement

As the saying goes, “birds of a feather flock together,” but in this piece I wanted to express the opposite. Why can’t a raven and a parrot be together? Why can’t people of all sorts be together? Why should society decide who I can hang out with? Who is to say what is “the norm”? Who says being the same means we should be together?
