Artist Statement

In my charcoal based piece, I created the image of the differentiation and discrimination of body shapes. Creating this piece was difficult because of the harsh reality it represents. While researching reference photos, it was very hard to look at pictures of people who have been affected by such discrimination. It makes me disappointed to see how society has impacted people negatively, but showing such sadness through my piece, it means a lot to me because I feel it is a true representation of our reality.
