Artist Statement

My inspiration for this piece was a situation similar to one that happened to me. I also have friends who experienced the same situation. I find it very interesting that a child does not judge a person, yet an adult does. It seems silly to me to kick out or shun friends or family members because of who they are. I’ve heard many ridiculous things, like “I’d rather have a serial killer in my house than a gay person.” We shouldn’t judge. We should let Love Be Love.
