Artist Statement

I chose heads as my subject matter because they illustrate that people’s expression of satisfaction and contentment can be completely different. I first sketched my concept on paper. I then carefully inked over all of my lines before finally lightly coloring in my drawing and adding shading and details to bring it life. For me, the work conveys the idea that we do not need to change ourselves or become like other to be happy. We can be happy with who we each are.
