Diversity is what we have. Acceptance of diversity is what we need.

Fred Rogers (1928-2003) is the inspiration for this piece. He was a pacifist who was fiercely committed to racial diversity and a huge supporter of women’s rights. He received the Presidential Medal of Freedom, 40 honorary degrees, and a Peabody Award. His television show, “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood,” originally aired for 33 years. He began each show with song, “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?” This piece represents the ideal neighborhood where no two houses, like people, are the same!
