"There is nothing LOUDER than the silence of a moment when you could have helped the oppressed."
quote by: Kayla Taylor, Sarasota, Florida
Being part of the LGBT+ community myself, the violence that occurred at Pulse Night club on June 12, 2016 shook me. It completely blew my mind that what is now the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history was an attack on a community I identify with. After a day of silence and mourning, I turned to art to cope and this photo was one of the resulting pieces. I decided to go back into it for this exhibition as a tribute to those we lost that night and as a reminder that there is still good in the world, and that we must never give up hope for a better tomorrow.
