A person is a book in the great library of the world; and like every book, they wait to be judged by their inside and not by their cover.

A burqa is an enveloping outer garment worn by women in some Islamic traditions. Some women choose to wear it proudly; others have no choice. Is this garment a means of oppressing women, or an assertion of religious and cultural identity? I hope the image of this little girl sparks these questions in the mind of the viewer. The burqa doesn’t hide her face—her deep, soulful life force shines through. I hope the sight inspires the viewer to see beyond the burqa.
