An ounce of love can cure a pound of hatred.
quote by: Donna Mae Galaez, Iloilo City, Philippines
In 2005, my husband and I were living and working in Sarasota, FL. We had a dear friend who was a foster parent, she told us about the need for loving families to foster children. We thought this would be a good thing for us to do, so we did. You may know a thing intellectually, but not know it emotionally. Of course, I always believed that all children deserve love and care, all children deserve a chance, and everyone deserves equality. But it wasn't until I became a caregiver for children who had not had an equal start in life, that I fully internalized just how important equality is, for our future, for our humanity. My beautiful daughter was adopted through foster care. We didn't plan to adopt, but the stars aligned and our sweet child became part of our family. This mixed media collage, "Every Mother's Child" (after Gustave Klimt) is for mothers, foster mothers, grandmothers, and caregivers - but it is especially dedicated to children.
