Artist Statement

This piece was created using watercolor, acrylic and ink. It depicts a lone clothing rack with three different outfits, ranging in modesty. I created this work because it’s common to blame women’s clothing choices for the harassment they receive. As a woman myself, I’ve had to opt out of wearing things that show “too much skin” to protect my own safety. As a society, I feel we should stop blaming victims of harassment and stop objectifying women. I chose to base my artwork on this subject because I believe it to be a problem that affects society around the globe.
