Artist Statement

This piece represents the struggle that many young girls go through every day. Eating disorders affect many young girls, yet they are not talked about as openly as they should be. This work depicts the pressure many girls feel to fit the beauty standards set by society. Many times, girls feel they need to choose between eating and not eating to maintain a certain size. By encouraging conversations about this, I can help people become more open and expressive about their feelings.
