Artist Statement

Misfit represents the tension of being part of two worlds, yet not fully submerged in either. On the left is the blue spheres community and on the right, the red cubes - both symbolizing idealized family dynamics. While the two coexist peacefully, they are divided by a conflict of the two shapes, resulting in a purple tetrahedral space. In this middle-ground stands a person who embodies both roundness and angularity. In the purple space between the two worlds, he becomes a symbol of harmony a reminder that true balance exists not in fitting perfectly into predefined roles, but in embracing the contrasts that make each side unique. By holding steady in this middle ground, the misfit nurtures understanding between the blue spheres and red cubes, demonstrating that while inclusion may not always come in the form we expect, it is often found in the courage to bridge divides.
