Artist Statement

This piece shows a dancer with a leg disability going beyond limits and expressing himself through movement. To me, his dance isn't about overcoming something, it’s simply about being himself. I didn't want to show him as someone to pity or admire just because he’s different. In the artwork, the people around him don’t treat him as special or separate. They just respond to his dance the same way they would to anyone with energy, respect, and connection. Through this painting, I wanted to explore what true inclusion looks like. I believe it doesn’t come from giving someone extra space, but from not seeing them as the other in the first place.
